Isabell Chouinard. 26 September 2023 Quiet Moments
Isabelle is an extraordinary artist in this discipline of studio still life Quiet Moments reflects the artist and her methodology. She thinks observes and carefully proceeds She presents us with two forms of a painting The Study and The Painting

The Study

Deconstruction of blocks of solid forms, the structure, light and colour shades Demonstrates observation, principles of drawing and perspective Bringing together transposed into a more formal format. The delight is seeing the structure as first perceived in the artists mind demonstrated in the STUDY. And then the final outcome in the PAINTING These are careful steps of accord and harmony, practice and application of studied technique
The Painting is a finished composition of subtle variants in soft moulding, shifts in light and shadow, finalisation of reflections and the sharpened poise of directional perspectives such as the angle of a balanced knife.
They appear calm however the crafting is beguiling Leading us into the painting again and again as we enter the space of the work And the poised STILLNESS of these Quiet Moments And the quiet contemplation is transferred to the viewer.
Isabelle has been recognised in many awards both here and internationally, including Winner 2021 Henry Jones Art Award for her portrait By the River’.
Portrait being another genre of her painting with the same application of observation and skilled techniques.
