Artist Statement
Carol Barnett is an Australian artist living and working in Tasmania.
Historical accounts of early grant holders and Government officials inform the titles of her paintings. They exemplify attitudes of opportunistic idealism while grasping for familiar “Home” comparrisons.
Having residencies, immersions and volunteer work among colonial homesteads Carols interesting in historical accounts of the times inform her work providing a focus on the impacts of colonisation represented through a landscape genre.
