These works are inspired and informed by Adrian's work maintaining and constructing walking tracks through the boulder-fields and bushland of kunanyi/Mt Wellington.
The painterly blurring of burnt-umber and ash-grey-white boulders and impasto gestures of wind affected tree trunks evoke the tactile experience of someone navigating their way through the shifting boulder-fields of kunanyi.
Adrian Bradbury holds a Master of Fine Art (University of Tasmania, 2022), an Honours
degree in Painting (University of Tasmania, 2018), a Bachelor of Health Science (Victoria
University, 2008), and a Diploma of Visual Arts (RMIT, 2003)
Bradbury has twice been a finalist in the Waterhouse Natural Science art prize, 2018 and
2016.
His work has featured in Lume, White Horses, The Mercury, The Examiner, The Advocate,
and on set of The Gloaming.
Solo exhibition venues include Moonah Arts Centre, Schoolhouse Gallery, Rosny TAS,

Andrew Harper
Adrian Bradbury has an intimate relationship with kunanyi: he’s one of those dedicated workers that spend days up on the mountain, maintaining and building tracks.
The collection of works springs from this experience: it’s an up close and personal record of being in one place again and again, walking it, noting details and finding something quietly mystical in the space: there’s a real aura of mystery that’s beautifully communicated.
Bradbury has a clever, distinct stylised approach that gives his work a strong sense of formal rigour.
Bradbury has an excellent palette for what he’s doing, finding tones and subtle variation that communicate a studied observation of small details, as if the works themselves have grown spreads of lichen.
It’s very successful work that hovers delicately between a sense of abstraction and a series of experiments with the myriad complex forms Bradbury sees in his day jobs.
Bradbury notices and sees, creating a complex lexicon of beautiful natural patterns and configurations.
